![]() The service starts and ends at the East Point MARTA station and also services the Willingham Business District in East Point and South Hapeville near the Jess Lucas Y-Teen Park and provides East Point and Hapeville direct services to each other without having to go to either the Oakland City or College Park stations. It will provide service to the Clayton County Justice Center, Clayton State University, the new Porsche facility and Battlecreek Road. Previously, Scofield Road residents complained about buses going through their community and it is anticipated that the complaints of non-residents cutting through their neighborhoods would diminish with the new services from the 195.įor East Point and Hapeville, these cities will have service to Clayton via the new Route 193. The 189 will continue to make the right along Scofield Road. Godby Road will now have services from Route 189 and Route 195. This route will also provide service to a portion of West Fayetteville Road, South Hampton Road and the Phoenix Blvd Business District. In the College Park area, the Godby Road, Roosevelt Highway and Old National Highway corridors will see Clayton connectivity now via the new Route 195 from the College Park Station. During off peak times and weekends, service from all trips is the entire route every trip. Buses will also see during this period of service ending at Garden Walk Blvd and West Lee’s Mill Road every other trip to speed up services. During peak periods service will now have trips every 15 minutes instead of every 30 minutes for the AM Peak from 6:00 a.m. Currently, all trips start at the mall and end at the mall going towards the station. To correct this, MARTA will alternate trips starting from Southlake Mall and Garden Walk Blvd at West Lee’s Mill Road. “I am not happy with citizens standing on packed and crowded buses,” he said. We are anticipating heavier usage when this route expands.”Ĭommission Chairman Jeff Turner echoed sentiments about the crowding. “This route is heaviest thus far for the county and the thing to note is that it does not serve the entire Riverdale Road corridor including Church Street. We have over 2,000 passengers per day on this route,” Roberta Abdul-Salaam, Clayton MARTA Board Representative explained. “Route 196 was the former C-Tran routes 501 and 503 consolidated. Route 196 will have additional trips to alleviate overcrowding concerns. Three new routes, 191, 193 and 195 will start to provide additional service that will benefit both Clayton County residents and Tri-Cities residents. TRI-CITIES-Relief for overcrowded buses, requests for more connectivity and improved Tri-Cities area services are under way this weekend from MARTA.
